Transalis Cloud OpenEDI Postcard

Thank you to all the companies that came to talk to us about the benefits of Cloud OpenEDI at the 2012 GS1 UK Conference & Exhibition on April 26th  www.gs1ukconference2012.org

Transalis Cloud OpenEDI is changing the ways that companies communicate. OpenEDI is used by Universal Music, AS Watson, Argos, Play.com, Microsoft, Tetley and thousands more businesses to improve their electronic communication with suppliers and buyers. OpenEDI Cloud Managed Services offer total supply chain electronic enablement whilst optimising existing technology investments and comes with an innovative cost-charging model to eliminate VAN charges.

Cloud OpenEDI integrates multiple EDI documents and standards between multiple networks, systems and trading partners. Existing closed-systems rely on communicating parties agreeing standards, message formats and processes. It is this restriction and complexity, the ‘integration nightmare’ with high costs that OpenEDI removes. By default, proprietary systems from different vendors fail to integrate efficiently – OpenEDI provides the ‘glue’, enabling organisations of all sizes, regardless of IT deployed, to communicate electronically seamlessly. OpenEDI lets anyone exchange information electronically with anyone else, regardless of the technology they use. OpenEDI empowers any business, no matter how large, to work electronically with any other, no matter how small, anywhere in the world.

Cloud OpenEDI Reasons to Switch

Posted 1st April, 2012
OpenEDI Cloud Managed Services

OpenEDI Cloud Managed Services

Cloud based EDI (also called cloud EDI) enables companies to access EDI software and servers located in a secure data centre, maintained by the EDI service provider. These subscriber-based services are delivered in real time over the Internet. Visit www.Cloud9EDI.com

1000′s of businesses have found the many attributes of cloud-based OpenEDI very attractive. Here are nine compelling reasons why:

1. Cloud EDI can improve employee productivity. Using Transalis web-based OpenEDI, employees and trading partners can easily access EDI documents in or out of the office. Many businesses have employees working remotely, and need both mobility and flexibility. Cloud EDI is a straightforward and affordable way of addressing those needs, especially when using intuitive, familiar software that employees can easily understand.

2. Cloud EDI reduces upfront costs. Choosing or migrating to a cloud-based EDI solution reduces the upfront costs associated with implementing EDI. There is no software or servers to buy and maintain. The cloud-based subscription model allows businesses to easily increase or decrease their use of cloud EDI services according to their needs.

3. Cloud EDI boosts collaboration. Employees and trading partners everywhere can access and work with the same EDI files in real time – no more emails back and forth with attachments to open. Better collaboration improves productivity.

4. Cloud EDI provides business resiliency.  Studies have shown that more than 50% of businesses will go out of business within a year of a major internal business systems failure, virus or cyber attack and data loss. In a cloud EDI environment, if you lose your laptop – or worse, your whole office – you can get back to business in no time. All your business information and EDI files remain securely in place.

5. Cloud EDI is easy. The transfer of EDI information into “the cloud” is very straightforward. No need to install new hardware or software; no IT administration. It is seamless to the user. Saving EDI documents to an OpenEDI Cloud9 Drive is the same process as saving it to a hard drive. No training is required.

6. Cloud EDI is accessible. Offering easy access, file sharing and data integration from any Internet connection, cloud EDI allows employees and trading partners access via any computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone.

7. Cloud EDI is secure. In fact, cloud EDI can be more secure than traditional EDI infrastructure. Cloud EDI providers like Transalis build multiple levels of security and redundancy into their data centre set ups.

8. Cloud EDI is global. There’s nothing stopping any organisation rolling out EDI to all their large, small & medium size trading partners for total supply chain EDI enablement.

9. Cloud EDI is EDI Made Easy! Start using or switch to Cloud EDI and you’ll be on “Cloud 9” in no time.

The great thing about cloud EDI is that it’s not an all-or-nothing proposition. Even if you already have servers and an IT staff, you can pick just one application such as EDI that you think would be better served in the cloud. With few exceptions, a mix and match of in-house and cloud-computing software works just great!

Cloud adoption continues to grow, with three quarters of IT
professionals surveyed believing their organisation will build a cloud
infrastructure over the next two years, according to the results of IBM’s 2011
Tech Trends report.

The report is based on the input of more than 4,000 IT professionals and
developers across 93 countries and 25 different industries.

This year’s survey examined how businesses are adopting and planning to
use mobile computing, cloud computing, social business and business analytics.
The results offer a glimpse into the future and provide IT professionals with a
clear roadmap of the technologies and platforms that will be in the greatest
demand in the coming year.

This year’s report uncovered a number of key trends in cloud adoption,
including:

Cloud Adoption Will Grow – 75% of respondents believe that over the next two
years their organisations will begin to build cloud infrastructure

Cloud Has a Growing Link to Mobile – 51% of respondents see the adoption of
cloud as part of their organisation’s mobile strategy

Building Cloud Applications Will Outpace Virtualization as the Top Cloud
Activity – 25% of respondents plan to implement cloud computing by developing
new applications vs. 24% for storage and virtualization

Flexibility and Scalability Are Top Motivators for Cloud Adoption – 58% of
respondents cite flexibility and scalability as top motivator for cloud
adoption, followed by reducing operating expenses (45%), efficiency (42%),
reducing capital costs (40%) and redundancy and disaster recovery (35%)

As cloud computing becomes more established in the technical landscape,
it appears that an increasing numbers of organisations are taking advantage of
the cloud, not only to build infrastructure but also to build and deliver new
applications, services and business models, many of which are also tied to
their mobile applications.

“The results are clear. Mobile computing, cloud computing, social
business and business analytics have gone beyond niche status and are now part
of any modern organization’s core IT focus,” said Jim Corgel, general manager
ISV and Developer Relations, IBM. “IT professionals who can develop the skills
needed to work across these technologies will be ready to meet growing business
demand in the coming years.”

of the survey are available at: www.ibm.com/developerworks/techtrendsreport
