Drapers Operations Forum 2016 Overview
It’s been two weeks since the inaugural Drapers Operations Forum at the Bloomsbury Hotel, London.
As an associate sponsor, Transalis were proud to be part of an event that, for the first time, focused on the operations side of the fashion world.
As market conditions continue to evolve and, after this week, seem more unsettled than usual, it’s time for the fashion and wider retail industries to ensure their back office operations provide the competitive advantages that are so desperately required to survive in this continually evolving marketplace.
Thanks to speakers from leading retailers including Barbour, Jeager, Jigsaw and John Lewis, we were given practical insights into how retailers have and continue to evolve and ideas on the changes needed to ensure an efficient, seamless, digital back-end operation.
Our key insights from the Drapers Operations Forum 2016 include:
In 2016, customer expectations are higher than they have ever been.
Omin-channel has led to a nightmare for many retailers trying to keep up with consumer demands. Retailers must optimise and digitise their operational processes to ensure they are delivering what global customers require.
This will differ across brands, but the one factor that crosses boarders is delivery. Customers expect to receive an item within promised timescales. Failing to meet their SLAs has catastrophic effects on brand loyalty, and therefore sales.
It’s time to make your data work for you. It is no longer acceptable to use data reactively to make decisions. Proactively including data must now be a priority within real-time business, to gain insight into business results and decision making. Real-time data and cloud technologies are now the new norm.
